Anika Noni Rose is an American actress and performer. She's best known for portraying Tiana Disney's her first African American Princess In The Princess and the Frog. Disney Legend was bestowed upon her in the year 2011. Rose played Lorrell Robinson on the Academy Award-winning film Dreamgirls. Anika Noni Rose (born June 6, 1972) is an American actor and a singer. Her most notable role is that of Tiana the Disney's first African American princess in The Princess and the Frog (2009). The film was named a Disney Legend in 2011. She was also recognized for her role in Dreamgirls (2006), which earned the Academy Award for Best Picture. In the Starz show Power she played the role of LaVerne Jukebox Ganner. Her other notable roles include on stage, particularly in the role of Emmie Thibodeaux and Emmie Broadway show Caroline or Change (2004), for which the Tony Award Best Female Featured Performer in a Musical was awarded to her as well as Beneatha Youther in the Broadway Revival of A Raisin in the Sun (2015) to which the Tony Award Best Female Featured Performance in a Musical was nominated for her.
